About Me
I was first elected in 1999 in the first
Scottish Parliament election.
- Upon arrival I was made Minister for
the Environment and Transport in
the first Scottish Government. I
delivered policies such as the free
bus passes for the over 60s.
Serving for over 20
years
I currently serve as Scottish Labour’s
Spokesperson for Net Zero, Energy &
Just Transition.
- I am passionate about protecting our
environment and ensuring a just
transition to a net zero economy.
Energy
Spokesperson
Throughout my career I have constantly championed causes that
are important to the residents of the Lothians. I have been a
leading voice in the campaign to secure a new eye hospital for
Edinburgh, the effort to re-open the Filmhouse and to secure a
future for the Kings and Brunton Theatres.
- I want to be your voice in Parliament. This is why I consistently
take constituent matters straight to Ministers and raise them in
the Chamber.
