Full meeting can be watched here: https://bit.ly/2KReWOI My question to the transport minister Michael Matheson in Chambers on Tuesday April 28th, 2020, on road and cycle safety measures. Good news that £10m will be available to Local Authorities to widen pavements to ensure social distancing is possible. However, disappointed with the answer that measures don’t include fixing potholes and repairing dangerous surfaces. The surfaces need to be safe as well as wide to ensure safety for those with disabilities or sight loss, too. These measures really need to go hand-in-hand. Community, support and solidarity will be crucial if we are to weather this pandemic. Local Government needs much more funding to help make this happen. The local government settlement is nothing to celebrate: disproportionate cuts to local government by the Scottish National Party and increased Government control over money that local government is allocated – those two factors have a direct impact on our communities and constituents. Excellent debate in Parliament on February 25th, 2020, on Monica Lennon’s Free Period Products Bill. Too many people run the risk of missing out on the great provisions this bill will offer. We must make sure that we work across the parliament to ensure that by the time the bill reaches stage three that we’ve strengthened it and put the principles into the act.
