Green and Just Recovery for Scotland after covid-19

Many thanks to all those who attended my meeting on Monday, 9th November, on Scotland’s Just and Green Recovery from covid-19.

It was inspiring to hear so many thoughtful contributions!

We need to keep up our efforts and lobby Scottish Government to ensure:

– focus on greener, sustainable food production and local food procurement

– support for green homes, to ensure our existing and new homes are affordable with low carbon community heat and power networks

– support for Pauline McNeill MSP’s Fair Rents Bill: we need to protect renters NOW.

– involve oil and gas workers in shaping the transition to new jobs that will help both our economy and the planet

– Scottish Government leadership to ensure big firms deliver on decent jobs and sustainable growth

– focus on how we deliver at next year’s COP in Glasgow

I will also feedback to my colleagues how useful this meeting has been and the importance of supporting such initiatives locally. Information on the Just and Green Recovery for Scotland campaign can be found here.
