Drug-related deaths are avoidable tragedies.

Data published this week showed that 155 drug related deaths occurred last year in the Lothians, an increase from 2018.

Scotland continues to have the highest drug-related death rate in Europe and a rate almost 3.5 times the UK rate as a whole.

Every drug-related death is an avoidable tragedy. The scale of the crisis means a radical rethink to tackle this emergency.

As Richard Leonard said today “Joe FitzPatrick is not solely to blame, but if we are to take the action necessary to end drug deaths he has to go.”
