Many thanks to End Child Poverty for inviting me to their manifesto launch event & to John Dickie from the Child Poverty Action Group in Scotland for being such a great host.
Child poverty hinders our communities & impacts on the future of our society. Financial support for low-income families is crucial.
To tackle child poverty, we need to address the systemic socio-economic inequalities: financial, learning & mental health support to children from underprivileged backgrounds; high-quality, affordable housing, child care, employment rights & decent pay for parents & directly involving people with lived experience of poverty in policy development.
Living in deprivation is a devastating reality for many & we need decisive joined up action to end poverty.
