Very interesting meeting with Crisis. Homelessness is preventable. And focusing on prevention rather than injecting cash in short-term solutions will allow the implementation of early interventions and a practical handout, so that people don’t reach a breaking point. We need to look at strategic support needs, focusing on affordability, stability ( accommodation for min of 12 months) and suitability for the needs of each household. As with the evidence session on Pauline McNeil’s Fair Rents Bill we also need to see building new affordable housing in Edinburgh as an urgent priority.
