A real-terms cut of £3.2bn & the potential abolition of the universal license fee by 2027 threatens jobs & access to impartial information, quality journalism & diverse content. In the age of fake news, we need the BBC now more than ever.
Today I called for solidarity with the people of Ukraine, for an end to Putin’s military aggression &for the humanitarian support that will be so desperately needed. The UK must ramp up its efforts to end money laundering &impose wide-ranging sanctions against the Russian regime.
Issues with vaccination status are piling up as boosters are showing as “dose 1 of 2” for those who have received both doses in the EU or another part of the UK. We urgently need action from the Scot Gov to make sure the vaccine app meets people’s real life circumstances.
We have deep-seated inequalities in our communities that must be addressed with targeted action, not empty statements. We must make training available, invest in Skills Development budgets, provide accessible and affordable childcare to parents and support women in the community.
Yesterday’s Scot Gov debate saw agreement across the chamber to support our coastal communities & fishing industries, whilst we incentivise change towards sustainable fishing practices benefiting local ecosystems & economy. Now is the time for action, not words #COP26
